TransCard Privacy Policy

TransCard Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 30 September 2025

1. Introduction

Welcome to TransCard (the “App”). We respect and protect the privacy of all users. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and safeguard your information while providing our learning-card service.

2. Data We Collect and How We Use It

2.1 Screen Captures (processed locally only)

  • When you click “Capture Subtitles” and move the cursor over the floating window, the App momentarily grabs a single frame covering only that window.
  • The frame is used locally for OCR and is erased from memory immediately after recognition.

2.2 User Inputs and LLM Responses

  • The text you submit to generate study material (including OCR output) and the LLM’s response are cached on our server to speed up later requests and help improve service quality.
  • All cached data are de-identified and contain no name, username, email address, or other directly identifying information.

2.3 Derived Study Material

  • This includes OCR results, translated text, and flash-card metadata.
  • You may choose to sync such data via iCloud; all synced data are protected by Apple’s end-to-end encryption.

2.4 Device and Diagnostic Data

  • Crash logs, feature-usage counts, and similar diagnostics are collected only with your consent and used to improve stability.
  • CrashReporter logs are hosted by Apple and retained for 90 days only.

2.5 IP Addresses

  • When a user generates a share link, we collect the user’s IP address and the IP addresses of anyone who clicks the link. This is used solely to verify that the share is valid so we can award free usage credits. Each share link expires after 12 hours, and all associated IP address records are deleted at the same time.

3. Data Storage and Security

  • Local storage: Raw screenshots exist in memory only and are cleared when the App closes.
  • Server: Data are stored on Tencent Cloud servers in the Tokyo region with disk-level encryption; developers can access only de-identified content.
  • Transport security: All traffic between client and server, and between server and upstream LLMs, is protected by HTTPS (TLS 1.2/1.3).

4. Third-Party Services and Cross-Border Transfers

  • Upstream LLM providers: OpenAI (USA), SiliconFlow (Mainland China), Hyperbolic (globally distributed).
  • Only the text you submit and the model’s reply are sent to the relevant provider over TLS. We do not sell, rent, or disclose your data to any other third party.

5. Your Controls

  • Anonymous-improvement switch: In Settings → Privacy → Improve response speed for all users you can turn this feature off; when disabled, we stop recording new anonymous requests and responses.
  • Delete study material:
    • Raw screenshots are deleted when the App closes.
    • Flashcards and other study data can be deleted in-app or via Settings → iCloud → Manage Storage.

6. Misuse Prevention

To guard against abuse, the App keeps short-term access logs at the network edge; these logs are automatically deleted within 30 days. Only de-identified statistical information is retained thereafter.

7. Children and Minors

The App is intended for users of all ages. If you are under 13 (or any higher age required by local law), please use the App only with parental consent and supervision.

8. Updates to This Policy

If we make any changes, the latest version will be posted on this web page and the “Last Updated” date will be revised accordingly.
